Styling the open abaya

The open abaya is the most adaptable piece in a modest wardrobe. Worn over different layers it can be formal, relaxed or anything in between.

Over a slip dress

The classic pairing. A slip dress in the same shade gives one unbroken line; a contrasting one turns the abaya into a frame.

Belted

A narrow belt at the natural waist gives shape to fluid fabrics such as satin and crepe without losing coverage.

With separates

Wide trousers and a simple top beneath an open abaya read as tailoring: a good answer for the office or for travel.
